Braxton has a rare condition that makes it hard for him to swallow. The vet tells us it's Achalasia. Which basically means that his esophagus is not opening to allow food to pass to his stomach. The cause is unknown. Braxton recently had a stomach peg inserted to try to fix the condition. He finally has been able to eat some food by mouth, though he still has difficulty with water. His foster mom is working with him towards eventually being able to have the stomach peg removed.

How you can help
Braxton's Veterinary bills have gotten very expensive and more bills are likely on the way as Braxton's condition is healed. Please consider donating even a small amount towards his medical expenses. Remember your donations are tax deductible.

Single red and white female looking for companionship. Hi, my name is Freckles and all I want in life is to be with my people who will love me. I'm an easy girl to have around as I'm very laid back but love to go on walks and lay by my people's feet. Do you have an empty hand to sit and scratch my head, if so, I'll be right there for you! My foster Mom says I'm one sweet girl. I'm crate trained, doggie door trained and housebroken (but talk with Foster Momma for details). I'm good with other dogs and even those kitties! I'm 10 years young and still have lots of love to give a family... did I mention I'm good with children also? What more could anyone ask for in a new family member?! Oh and by the way, PLEASE excuse my haircut, my Foster Mom tells me it will grow out... something about giving me supplements to make it grow faster, that it was NOT her idea!! Bryce is a beautiful boy but a little quirky! He gets along great with other dogs and now even the kitties as he pays them no attention. He loves his toys and running around with his foster siblings. He knows Sit, Down, Come and Spin. Bryce will also go to his mat while resting and is crate trained. Things that Bryce needs, he needs a fenced in yard along with other dogs in the family to occupy him while he is idle, he also needs to be crated while you are not home. Bryce does much better in a structured environment like his foster home, if given too much freedom he becomes a little disoriented and will start spinning... 02/01/10 Update: Spring is receiving a wonderful donation, she has been enrolled in Teamworks' board and train program where she is learning manners and soon, agility! Yogi (Bear) got his name because he looks like a little bear, and he is as loveable as a teddy bear! Yogi is one of the sweetest guys you will ever meet! He is so happy to be with people that he "smiles" when he greets you. Yogi gets along with other dogs and doesn't seem to notice the cats, he loves being with his people and would be best with older kids. Yogi apparently was not treated very nicely before coming to the rescue and is somewhat timid and shy at first. He warms up quickly, he just needs someone to show him that the world is not so scary. Yogi is already crate trained and housebroken, but he does needs a little work on the leash and with basic commands, however he is very bright and willing. Typical of all little dude, Mr. Pibb thinks he is the man! And him being as cute as he is... he IS! This little guy is obviously no Border Collie but who could resist this face?! Mr. Pibb will not be adopted out to homes with small children but to a loving companion home that will not spoil him TOO rotten... meaning this little ones need to be loved but also given boundaries just as much as the big guys/gals. They are still active and need exercise! Mr. Pibb is being fostered near Richmond, VA.

This adorable little guy is busy, busy, busy... but talk about petite and CUTE! Harley is a ball dog and LOVES to play fetch. Are you looking for that beautiful girl that wants nothing more than be with you, well, maybe Charlotte is the one for you! All she wants in life right now is to be with her person, she is a true Velcro dog! She also has a talent of yoddling! Charlotte is o.k. with everyone but would be very content being the center of your world! She is being fostered near Richmond, VA.

Campbell is a handsome male Australian Shepherd. He is a sweet, well-behaved boy, but he is also high energy and will do best in an active home that understands herding dogs. Campbell is a complete love-bug! His cute “Aussie Butt” is always wiggling and he loves to snuggle. He gets along well with other dogs, but loves to be the center of attention. He would fit well in a home where he was the only pet or with an equally active canine playmate. Campbell is probably too energetic for a home with young children.

Campbell is well behaved in the house and rides nicely in the car. He is housebroken and also crate trained. Campbell has been through obedience training and knows “sit”, “come”, “down”, “heel”, “stay” and may other commands. His recall is excellent. This boy absolutely loves water. If we didn’t know better, we would think he was part duck! A home that will take Campbell swimming in the warmer months is an absolute must! He would make an excellent jogging partner as well. Campbell has been through introductory agility training as well and has been introduced to many of the obstacles. He is easily motivated to work for food or praise and is a breeze to train.

Angels need to help with vet expenses for Dash--- Dash was picked up in a local shelter being somewhat skittish but very sweet. His foster Mom went to meet this dear boy and instantly fell in love with him, that was Dec. 23rd, just in time for Christmas! We knew Dash was heartworm positive and not neutered so we expected him to be a project... well, it turns out that Dash is wonderful and all the things that a Border Collie should be! He LOVES toys and will fetch until he just drops (YES, heartworm treatment will not be fun for any of us), he is housebroken, tolerates his crate very well and settles very nicely in the house. Not to mention after an hour of so of settling in, he was a total love bug and sofa cuddler! Unfortuantely for all of us, on Jan. 3rd, Dash had a seizure, we do pray that it's something we can control very easily with diet and if needed medications but we are monitoring the situation with him and are more than thankful it happened once he was safely in a foster home... so needless to say, Dash will not be available for some time, but please consider donating to help cover his vet expenses! This dear boy deserves sooo much more than being left in a shelter where decisions were having to be made for him... Dash was our unexpected Christmas guest in 2009, we have promised him that Christmas 2010 will be even better for him... for us, he was the best gift ever!! There is nothing more rewarding than seeing a rescued animal's eyes light up with joy at the knowing that they are loved.... it's the reason we do what we do!

Shana is a beautiful red and white girl with just a tad bit of black on her beautiful face! She is a sweet, active girl that gets along with everyone. She does have some herding instincts and can be just a little nippy at the heels of moving small children. Shana is being fostered in Richmond, VA.

1/07/10 - Dixie will not be available for another month as she has tested postive for heartworms and Lyme's disease and will need to go thru treatment... Angels needed to help with her vet expenses.... This little girl did not deserve the life she was given prior to rescue. She has already had to bear having puppies and then being dumped in a shelter, help us make her renaming many years, MUCH better, filled with love and attention. Dixie is a little shy but she is very sweet, easy going, and just happy to be somewhere safe right now. Once she knows you are good people, you have a friend that will love you. She has been a little worn out and reserved coming into rescue, but we just know, soon she will once again be the happy, go lucky girl she should be soon!
