ABE

Abe is a one year old, high energy boy looking for an active lifestyle.  If limited to only a few words to describe him it would be, "a playful bundle of energy".

Abe spends much of his day running, romping and playing in his three acre fenced "playpen".  If alone, he self entertains by playing with his favorite donut toy. But, given the opportunity he much prefers playing with his other canine friends. He is all about grabbing a toy and taunting them into chasing him.  He will do this until all of them are tuckered out. When mom enters the picture though it's time for walks and a good game of fetch!

Underneath all his outward exuberance is a smart and affectionate boy who wants to please, is intelligent, interested in learning, and really enjoys being close with his people.  He stays close by on walks; he is learning to trade his toy for a treat; and, he loves being petted.  He has attended obedience class and has learned down, sit to stand, down to stand, place (puts all 4 feet on a pad), touch nose to hand, look (looks at your eyes), and is working on stay/wait. He likes clicker training and is also food motivated. He is also housebroken and uses a doggie door.

Abe is a Rembrandt in the making! He is ready to become a loyal and fun family dog and is looking for a family willing to continue working with him to bring out his full potential.  His energy level and personality also make him a candidate for sporting.

The ideal home for Abe is one that has a sizable yard for him to run and play in for off leash exercise. Although he loves playing with other dogs of like energy...they tend to hype him up. In order for him to maintain a more even keel, he does better as an only dog or with calm, level-headed dog companions,

Abe is being fostered by the Atlantic Region Central Border Collie Rescue in Apple Grove, VA... just west if Richmond.  He is 44 pounds, neutered, UTD on vaccinations, and on heartworm prevention.
