Meet Bear. He has been appropriately named because of his Fluffy coat. Although only 55 pounds, if he was minus the white markings he could very well be mistaken for his ursus ancestor. But this gorgeous, purebred border collie is far from a fur-ocious bear. Bear is a pretty laid back, mild mannered, moderate energy boy that loves to fetch and is going to make a great companion dog.
Bear was unselfishly surrendered to ARCBCR due to the owner having to move into a small apartment that she felt was unfair to his needs. Bear is 4-5 years old that has spent much of his life as a city dog with his previous mom and dad...he is use to leash walks and dog parks.
Bear is currently being fostered on a farm and is loving the outdoors and the freedom of running off leash in the fields there. He also loves a good game of fetch, being loved on by his humans, and playing with the other dogs at his new temporary home. His previous mom says he loves to swim, being brushed, ice in his water on a hot summer afternoon, getting a bath, car rides, and popsicles.
Bear's ideal home will have a good size yard where he can play fetch and have a kiddie pool for him to splash around in. He is hoping for a family that will play regularly with him, take him on walks and give him lots of affection.
Bear is being fostered by the Atlantic Region Central Border Collie Rescue near Richmond, VA. He is housebroken, neutered, UTD on vaccinations, heartworm free and on preventatives, on flea/tick prevention.
