Jack "of Hearts"

Jack is an absolutely gorgeous (what appears to be) English Shepherd. He is around two years old and 40 pounds. He was surrendered to a Virginia shelter when his family found themselves in a hardship situation. When rescued, it was apparent that the abandonment made him unsure and frightened of his new situation. He was jumpy to the touch, reluctant to approach, wouldn't take treats, afraid of his new canine companions, and simply put, in human terms...just looked and acted depressed. Yet, despite his apparent sadness and uncertainty, he exhibited the most friendly temperament, calm composure and longing for human touch.

Jack's "coming out" has been a slow but steady walk of faith. Although he still presents as somewhat timid he is gaining confidence daily.

He's welcoming a routine, feeling comfortable hanging out and running with his dog buddies and trusting and seeking attention from his new humans... nosing them for pets and comfortably and confidently sitting beside them as they offer reassuring cuddles. Every day seems to bring new firsts...a kiss, a roll over for a belly rub, a bark and playing with toys. As he continues his journey, Jack's foster mom envisions him as a devoted and loyal family companion...alert, eager to please, moderate energy and a snuggle bug. This boy is sure to win the heart of the person lucky enough to adopt him. He certainly has done so with his foster family.

Just like a border collie) Jack's new family will need to anticipate providing him with plenty of exercise, a home with a large fenced backyard or acreage with plenty of room to run, adequate mental stimulation and most of all companionship.

Jack is neutered, utd on vaccines, microchipped and on on heartworm and flea/tick prevention. He is being fostered by the Atlantic Region Central Border Collie Rescue near Richmond VA.
