AMY

Introducing… The Prettiest Girl in America!

World, meet Amy, a sweet, smart, and sometimes sassy 7-year-old Aussie / Border Collie mix looking for her forever home!

Amy was rescued from a kill shelter, and shortly thereafter, her owner started having health issues that made it unsafe for them to keep her.

This girl has it all: looks, brains, and good manners. She is housebroken and knows key commands (come, sit, stay / wait, lay down and more) and you don’t have to tell her twice! She does love a good walk and we’re working on leash training, which she’s picking up mighty quick.

She’s got a playful spirit and would love a big backyard (or land) to run in. She doesn’t seem to care much for toys, preferring interaction as her form of play. She has even been known to make up hide-and-seek games! She is also more than happy to be a couch potato.

Amy is a classic Velcro Dog, wanting to be near her preferred person as much as possible, however, hasn’t exhibited any signs of separation anxiety. She is crate-trained, but treats the crate more like a comfy cave than a container.

It’s unclear how she would handle being in a home with other dogs, but she seems to like being the principal princess. She seems mostly ambivalent about cats (and reportedly let two of them try to play with her, but she didn’t react). Children are untested. She is, like many herding breeds, very protective of her people.

Healthwise, she’s spayed and up to date on shots. She does have chronic dry eye and needs drops twice a day, but eagerly takes them (maybe because she knows a treat always follows!).

Amy would thrive in a home with:

  • People experienced with herding breeds

  • Room to cut loose and run free (or if there are runners! She seems to like and want to run around, specifically)
