BLAZE

Blaze is a 7-Year-Old Intact Male ABCA Border Collie

I am making the difficult decision to rehome my purebred high energy Border Collie. I have had him since he was a puppy, and he is a great dog, but the dynamic with our toddler is no longer working.

The Good:

He is an incredibly loyal, fantastic dog who bonds hard with his people. He loves being part of the action in a busy household. He is house-trained, uses a dog door, and is a polite houseguest—a previous boarder called him the best dog they’ve ever had at their house. He is very affectionate; if you are petting another dog, he will happily squeeze his way right in to make sure he gets some love, too!

The Quirks (Full Disclosure):

No toddlers: He does great in an active home, but he does not tolerate being harassed by toddlers. He would do wonderfully with older children who understand basic dog boundaries.

Correction style: He is smart and wants to please, but he gets defensive if yelled at or harshly punished because he doesn't understand it. He responds beautifully to positive redirection (making a game out of moving him outside, etc.).

Other dogs: He is fine living with other dogs, but he is a bit protective of his food, so he just needs to be fed separately (standard practice).

Leash manners: He's a bit out of practice and pulls initially but will improve over time. He may bark at other dogs on a leash mostly out of uncertainty.

He is a wonderful, devoted companion who just needs a home without toddlers and humans who use positive communication. If you would like more information about Blaze you can email bkstradling@gmail.com or fill out an application below
