MARZY

Meet Marzy! She is an Australian Shepherd/Border Collie mix that is looking for the perfect person to shower her with love and attention. At 3 years old and about 36 pounds, she’s the ideal adventure buddy for years to come! She is truly the definition of a “velcro dog” and would prefer to spend every waking moment in your shadow. If you've got office work to do, she's laying at your feet for hours on end. Cleaning up the yard? She'll help you collect sticks! Showering? Don't fret, she'll be curled up on the bathmat waiting for ya. With that in mind, she has had free roam of the home when we're gone and doesn’t exhibit any separation anxiety or destructive tendencies so she's not THAT obsessed... Marzy is your typical high drive herding breed, but she’s learned to shut it off and ‘relax’ after a good day of exercise and stimulation. Her favorite way to relax is cuddled up on the couch in your lap and a cozy blanket! Other than the cuddles, she would play all day every day if you let her, so we would prefer she has a doggie companion to help keep her occupied and happy. She doesn’t discriminate against size or breed, she's a very social girl! Two of her best friends are a 130 pound Newfoundland and an 18 pound doodle.

Initially, Marzy had potential to be a sport dog and quickly mastered anything you put in front of her! At this point, she has several Titles in NADAC agility, has perfect off leash recall, can perform some advanced obedience as well as the basics, and thrives on asking her human what’s next! Unfortunately, this past summer we learned she has a hard time regulating her temperature when the weather warms up. This doesn’t mean she can’t still work and practice mentally stimulating games! But like your typical BC, she just doesn't know when to quit! All this means is when the heat hits, she has to avoid any high intensity exercise and stay very hydrated. We’ve been easily able to manage this by playing in bodies of water or the pool, going for hikes rather than fetch, and simply playing games and learning new commands in the lovely air conditioning! The rest of the year, she's a completely normal girl ready to GO GO GO!

She initially came from a neglect case and the world was a very scary place, but over the past year she has blossomed into a much more confident girl! She does still have moments of insecurity (loud noises or scary new objects), but with guidance and patience she can overcome it. She is a little shy when meeting new people, but with treats or a ball you’re quick friends! At this point, she has a very large group of humans she LOVES and meets new people on a regular basis. She would do well in a home with children over 13 years of age.. She has lived with a cat peacefully as well as a constantly rotating pack of dogs (mom is a trainer).

Marzy is truly an amazing companion that loves with every fiber of her being. She would thrive with an active person or family that has the time to continue to train, entertain, exercise, and love her the way she deserves. Her ideal home would be quiet, maybe on some property or near trails, with a human who's home often and can make her a part of their daily routine. Applicants that live in apartments, condos, or homes without a yard will not be considered. She is potty trained, crate trained, spayed, and up to date on all vaccines & preventatives.
