MARSHALL

Looking for the perfect low-key companion? Take a look at good-natured, Marshall! This boy is sweeter than a Hersey bar with a beautifully balanced personality...he is very friendly, gentle, even-tempered and easy-going. Marshall will be a great fit for a solo household, or family, who desires an undemanding, easy-to-handle and loving companion.

Marshall is around 2 years old and has a beautiful laid-back energy. He loves people but is not an in-your-face type of dog. His personality is truly the perfect blend of affection, outgoingness, attachment and independence.

Marshall is also very dog friendly. He is self-confident without being pushy. He is around 45 pounds and has tested well with large and small dogs, dominant and submissive dogs, males and females, and dogs with anxiety issues. He will slip nicely into an only-dog, or multiple-dog, home. He has not shown any resource guarding, separation anxiety or noise sensitivity.

Marshall enjoys leisurely walks but is not overly interested in excessive exercise. He is content hanging with his foster family and watching his crazy border collie stepsisters fetch and carry on. Smart dog! He will be a great fit for moderately active people.

Marshall is food motivated and just beginning to show an interest in toys. He isn't Einstein but is learning basic commands and is very well behaved. He picks up on routines and behavioral cues from his people and canine companions. Most importantly, he comes when called, knowing that there will be treats or hugs waiting for him.

Marshall adjusted quickly to his foster home and easily formed bonds with his care givers. His happy place soon became anywhere he can hang out with his humans... indoors, outside, on car rides, etc., with a comfy doggy bed in the house topping the list. He is a house dog through and through and can be left unattended without getting anxious or destructive. And he's potty trained.
Marshall's loyalty gene and comfort zone extends to his home place as well, where he quickly became content to hang out in his backyard, even though he can jump the fence. But to be on the safe side, adopters who are interested in Marshall should be prepared to boundary-train him and live in low traffic neighborhoods or have open acreage where you and he can get him used to his home territory. He doesn't run off when he is loose, preferring to stay around home.
Marshall is being fostered by the Atlantic Region Central Border Collie Rescue outside of Chocowinity, NC. He is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative and preventative, dewormed and on flea/tick meds.
