LUFFY
Luffy is a bright, affectionate 7-month-old Border Collie with a kind heart, eager mind and high energy level. True to his breed, he is incredibly intelligent, focused, and always ready to learn and play.
He has a wonderful temperament and stable personality. He loves being around fun people and playful canines. Although he can be a little shy when first meeting new people or dogs, it doesn’t take long for his playful and affectionate personality to takeover. And, while Luffy hasn’t been around young children, he lights up when he sees kids and would likely thrive in a home with older children who can match his energy and playfulness.
Luffy loves to play - he enjoys a good game of fetch or tug and would likely be game for different games as well... frisbee, hide and seek, etc. Whatever the play session is, he’s happy to settle in for a well-earned nap afterwards.
Luffy’s foster mom has not observed any behavioral concerns. He has shown no signs of toy or food aggression and is not reactive. Like many young dogs, he does enjoy chasing cats, squirrels, and birds, which simply reflects his playful and instinctive nature.
Luffy is a quick learner who already knows an impressive list of commands including sit, stay, down, roll over, and drop it. He also has great manners at mealtime, waiting patiently until given permission to eat. He’s doing well with his leash training and will undoubtedly crush it with continued guidance. Luffy is ready and eager for a family excited to build on his training and keep him learning.
Luffy is both house-trained and crate-trained. He will let you know when he needs to go potty by standing by the door or giving a little whine; and, he sleeps soundly through the night in his crate.
This little brainiac will do best with an active family who enjoys a smart, energetic and engaging dog. He will need a large fenced yard for regular off-leash exercise and enrichment activities for that noggin of his. He'd also do best with another canine playmate. People who like to teach dog tricks will find Luffy to be a fun companion to work with.
Luffy will come with his bed, his favorite toys, and lots of love to give. He’s looking for an active home that understands the needs of a young Border Collie—one that can provide plenty of exercise, structure, and, of course, lots of fun games of fetch!

Luffy is being fostered by the Atlantic Region Central Border Collie Rescue near Chincoteague, VA. He is up to date on vaccines, dewormed, heartworm negative an on preventative and microchipped. He will be adopted with a neuter contract, allowing him time to fully mature and develop before neutering. If interested in adopting Luffy complete and submit the application below.
