Meet Ms Pepper. This spunky 5 month old purebred border collie is ready for her new home. Pepper spent a few months in an apartment and after consulting with her owner, decided she needed a yard and other dogs to play with so she came to us.
Pepper is a typical border collie puppy. Sassy, athletic, curious, smart, lots of energy and loves to give kisses and lick things. She tries very hard to play with the resident dogs but they are trying to teach her manners first before they play. She would do best with another dog to play with and give her confidence outside. Mostly age and exposure related, she goes into flight mode when she hears loud noises but does tend to follow the other dogs when she’s unsure. We’re working on redirecting her fear with food or toys and she’s already improving a lot. She is HIGHLY food motivated and is really loving all the toys in the house. Typical of a puppy, she will grab things that aren’t hers. She loves to be outside and sniff around the yard. She’s not an intense dog like some BCs but she is going to have a lot of energy so she will need an active household. Like many BCs, she has opinions and you will hear about them.
Due to her flight stage outside, a fence is required. She does run to the back door but there are no exceptions to this. She would really excel with another dog in the house to play with so people with another dog will be given priority. She also needs someone who can teach her to be confident outside with new things and noises that has experience or is willing to get help without pushing her too hard. She is crate trained and is working on potty training. This is a really nice puppy who will be a lot of fun for someone who will keep her busy. She is located in Newport News VA.
