GEORGIE

Meet Miss sweet peach, Georgie! She is a border collie mix around 1 year old and about 45lbs. She’s all legs and quite the string bean though! She is spayed, microchipped, up to date on all vaccines, heartworm negative and on prevention, and crate trained. Georgie is affectionate, snuggly, inquisitive and cautious at the same time. Every day she is learning more and more about the big world around her, and that doesn’t stop her!

Georgie prefers to be where you are and already has a built-in on/off switch (as long as you’re willing to keep reinforcing the “off” switch!). She is ready to “go” whether it’s a walk or car ride — but also understands when foster mom is working from home and can’t entertain her all day. She is great in the car, with no car sickness or anxiousness.

She is past the puppy mischievousness and chewing on objects in the house. However, because she is still young and learning, we are working on jumping and mouthing hands/arms when she gets excited. We strongly recommend a household with no children under the age of 13 for these reasons. Fortunately, Georgie redirects amazingly—whether it’s a toy, a verbal correction, or a treat detour.

Speaking of corrections, Georgie will need someone who is soft and sweet (just like her), because too harsh of a tone or yelling will cause her to have a nervous/submissive pee accident. Interestingly enough, these accidents only seem to happen during corrections when she doesn’t want or understand what you’re asking of her. Otherwise, Georgie has a bladder and GI system like a tank because the girl can HOLD IT, especially for such a young dog! She barely makes a peep in her crate, if anything just a few whimpers when she first goes in.

Georgie is dog-friendly. She would most likely excel in a house with another active dog that will help show her the ropes, increase her confidence, and get her energy out. She could probably be an only dog too, but will need consistent rules/boundaries, routine, and a very active household as the girl is quite athletic and loves to run and play—so a home with a fenced yard is preferred. She is not cat tested.

Georgie is being fostered Arnold, MD. If you would like more information about her, you can email her foster at kasspor3@gmail.com or fill out an application below.
